Dear Mr. Netflix,
It seemed like a good idea at the time. And you know what? This ‘no late fees’ shenanigans is pretty smart business if you ask me. You didn’t? Well, I’ll tell you anyway. There’s a local DVD place about 6 miles down the road that has a deal on Tuesdays where every DVD is $1. I think it’s a fantastic deal. You might counter back that they have late fees. Yes they do. I’d like to also submit the notion that you do too. If I forget about a film — which I have on a few occasions — I’m still paying for a service I’m not technically ‘using’. I have to admit though, my intrigue with Netflix isn’t about saving petrol money or the convenience of forgetting I have legs or the innate ability to portray some sort of social skills by interacting with other humans in public places. No, it’s about lists. I can create a list from a huge database and somehow, that cheers my soul. I also like getting stuff in the mail.
There is a personality behind my faceless membership number, and skills I don’t readily get to employ on a regular basis, at least with the viewing public. You should count yourself lucky you are one of the very few to lay witness that I can piece back together a paper product that has been shredded by toddler ingenuity. I think you’ll agree that this is one piece of impressive engineering. And you’re welcome. It’s the little things that show you care.
Cheers,
abritdifferent, a list lover.
Thats a pretty good tear job. Nice going boys :o) Daddy is proud. Now do that to all the chick flicks in the house :o)
Impressive!
You got skills!!!
ps: I am a list lover too. At the moment I have 97 movies and tv shows on my list!
That’s funny. Where would we be without scotch tape?
What a great job!
Wow, that’s a great tape job ;)!
I love lists too! My only problem is that they never get shorter, only longer. Which one was the cuprit? Cameron or Ian?
That is one great tape job. I have gotten pretty good at tape jobs myself with 2 boys, a girl and too many dogs to count.
Hehe, good tape job. I’m sure Netflix won’t mind too much.
Wow! You’ve got skills with tape! 🙂
We used to have a special bag we kept in a closet that was marked – DBT. Destroyed By Toddler. And into it went things that were. Then to be examined and either repaired or disposed of.
The DBT bag was ALWAYS full.
OH my. You do have skills. 🙂 I would include a note including the story!
LOL! I must say, you are quite resourceful.
I can hardly notice those tears 😉
You have some mad wrapping skillz. Very nicely done.
nicely done!!!!!
I made a list on Netflick once to even through i cannot get them here. Just found it fun lol
LOL…never tried NetFlix…but that tape up job is CLASSIC! lol!
I will echo the rest…well done!
A little hint from my engineering mind. If you have a Netflix plan with 2 or more movies, then occasionally mail two movies back in one mailer and keep the extra mailer. As a professional Couch Potato, I would never dream of exerting the effort and energy it required for you to mend your mailer!
That’s a fabulous idea! I wish it could work for us, but we just get one at a time. That’s all we signed up for.
I think I am the type of person Netflix make money out of. I have had the same 4 movies (couldn’t tell you what they are even) sat here for OVER 9 months. They have travelled with me on holiday and I STILL haven’t watched them. And don’t even get me started on their bloody envelopes…
I’m writing this becasue you commented over on Xbox’s site congratulating him and E for their baby.
I’m putting this on this post because it’s a little bit down the page and I don’t want him to see it 🙂
A while ago, before Martin’s (xbox4nappyrash) wife got pregnant I promised I would post a youtube video of me singing “Yes” by Mcalomont & Butler whilst accompanying myself on the ukulele to celebrate the birth of their child.
This will not be a pretty sight as I can neither sing, nor really play the ukulele (this isn’t false modesty – I really can’t).
However what I thought might make it really cool would be instead of just a straight video I put together a montage of videos shot by readers of his blog and fellow walkers all celebrating – i.e. dancing, sticking thumbs up, cheering, holding up signs, that sort of thing. It would have to be something that would work without sound as I would put my (awful) soundtrack over the top of it.
It would be great if you could participate. If you send me a short 5-15 second video clip (or at a push a photo, but a video would be much better) along with your name and blog then I’ll put it together with other submissions and get something ready for the end of the week. I think it would be a really nice thing to do for martin to show him and E how pleased we are for him. and Martin has been incredibly supportive of me and my various projects in the past.
However I realise this isn’t the sort of thing a lot of people are comfortable with and so would understand completely if you don’t want to do it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Dan.

a Brit different. I do have a couple of questions for you if it’s okay. Is it simply me or do a few of the responses appear as if they are written by brain dead people? 😛 And, if you are writing at other sites, I would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post. Could you post a list of the complete urls of your social pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
Have something a bit more specialized??? To illustrate, critical reviews
or even resources related to skin care routine for acne skin.
How can I sign up for your content? 🙂
